Macia Grebot
Career Background
Macia has a school-based background with extensive
experience at senior management level in the
maintained and special schools sector. Her qualifications
include a National Professional Qualification
for Headship (NQPH), a Performance Management
Consultant, and European Foundation for Quality
Management Assessor .
After 20 years of working in schools, Macia
made the transition to a local education authority
role within the London Borough of Richmond upon
Thames. This gave her experience both within
strategic management and school improvement.
In 2003, together with her business partner – Isabella
Donnelly, Macia formed Grebot Donnelly Associates – a
company providing marketing and communications
specialising in the education sector.
Key Reponsibilities
Macia’s had a wide range of responsibilities
whilst working within local authority. She developed
schools’ awareness and understanding of
their responsibilities as purchasers of services,
consistent with best value principles, and worked
w ith service managers to help them understand
the changing political and economic environment.
She also developed and managed strategies to
address issues of recruitment and retention of
teaching staff, and was involved in the training
and development of teaching and non-teaching
staff , including behaviour and crisis management.
Currently, as director of Grebot Donnelly Associates,
Macia is responsible for the management of a
range of projects at LEA and school level, as
well as being involved in a number of initiatives
with other educational bodies.
Key Achievements
During her time working at the London Borough
of Richmond, Macia successfully managed the process
of agreeing service level agreements, and developed
the outsourcing of services to support school
development. She also led the Advanced Skills
Teachers’ initiative.
Grebot Donnelly Associates are gaining increasing
recognition for their work with marketing and
communications providing a key contributing element
to school improvement and to effecting cultural
transformation.
Macia has also published a series of articles
on the subject of marketing for education and
has co-written a book with Isabella Donnelly
and Brin Best, ‘Promoting Your School’,
one in a series of Teachers’ Pocketbook.
